Meetings and general meetings

Strata Committee meetings and general meetings convened, chaired where required, minuted accurately and followed up, so decisions are properly made and properly recorded.

What it covers

Included as standard

  • Notices and agendas issued within the required timeframes
  • Motions drafted so they are clear and capable of being voted on
  • Meetings held on site, in our office meeting rooms, or by electronic means
  • Accurate minutes, distributed promptly after the meeting
  • Voting, proxies and quorum handled correctly
  • Action items tracked so resolutions do not quietly lapse
In New South Wales

Notice periods, quorum and voting are set by the Strata Schemes Management Act 2015. Get the notice period wrong and a resolution can be challenged, so we work to the Act, not to habit.

How it works

From first call to done

1

We agree the agenda with the strata committee and confirm what needs to be voted on.

2

Notice goes out to all owners within the period the legislation requires.

3

The meeting runs, and we record the decisions as they are made.

4

Minutes are distributed and the resolutions are actioned.

Questions

Meetings and general meetings: common questions

How much notice do we have to give for a general meeting?+
It depends on the type of meeting and, in New South Wales, on which regulation module applies to your scheme. Rather than quote a number that may not be the one that governs your scheme, we confirm the correct period for your scheme and work to it.
Can meetings be held online?+
Yes. Electronic and hybrid meetings are permitted, and many strata committees now prefer them because attendance improves. The same notice, quorum and voting rules still apply.
What if we cannot get a quorum?+
It happens, particularly in schemes with a lot of investor owners. There are provisions for adjourning and for what constitutes a quorum at the adjourned meeting. We will tell you where your scheme stands and what the strata committee can validly decide.
